High Pointe Inn

Meandering
along the Olde King’s Highway, aptly designated as one of America’s top
scenic routes, I become enamored with New England all over again. It was
in Olde England that I first fell in love with B&Bs, and the quaint
villages of New England are strikingly similar to their English cousins. The moment I spot High Pointe Inn, I know I have chosen the right place for my first Cape Cod experience. I try, with one sweeping glance, to take everything in at once—the picture-perfect Cape Cod home situated atop a sloping hill, lush vines weaving through a latticed arbor, a profusion of flowers embellishing the manicured lawn. But, it is more than I can absorb with a mere glimpse. I can hardly wait to step inside and begin experiencing all this inn has to offer. -----------------------------------------
----------------------------------------- Debbie and Rich Howard, warm and resourceful individuals who have mastered the art of innkeeping, assumed ownership of High Point Inn in 2004. The Howards live on-site and make certain their guests’ every need is met. Their amazing attention-to-detail is evident throughout the inn—from the pointed toilet tissue, embossed with the inn’s name, to the warm “avocado rolls-ups” presented at the conclusion of breakfast each morning. As I discover, this “specialty of the house” consists of avocado-colored washcloths (moistened, warmed, and rolled-up) presented to guests for cleansing their hands before leaving the breakfast table. |
My
favorite guest chamber is
Sea
Dream, an expansive
ocean view room overlooking the dunes of Sandy Neck Beach with Cape Cod
Bay in the distance (see photo of
Sea
Dream on page 2).
Even a pair of binoculars is provided so one may better zoom-in on the
area’s panoramic beauty. A well-appointed aerie, featuring striking color
combinations and a reading nook next to a full-view picture window, this
magnificent room is a difficult one to leave—except when aromas of
breakfast begin rising with the sun early each morn. |
