“A Nature Lover’s Paradise” By the time my husband Bill and I reached Galvladi, we knew we had found a mountain getaway as ideally located as it is secluded. Galvladi is the Cherokee word for “heaven,” and it did not take us long to realize how fitting the name is for this amazing bed and breakfast mountain inn. Terry Matré and Dave Stubbs orchestrated the building of Galvladi during 2006 and personally designed it to function as an inn with a magnetism that would lure guests back again and again. Their goal was met—guests are provided with every comfort and thoughtful extra imaginable. Terry and Dave, who serve as resident innkeepers, wonderfully complement each other as well as their inn. Dave grows fresh vegetables in his garden, and Terry transforms them into creative, gourmet meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) which leave guests marveling. |
Truly an ultimate mountain B&B, Galvladi becomes an instant favorite of Bill’s as well as mine. It is an inn we desire to revisit again when we have longer to savor the myriad of offerings available at this inn extraordinaire.

“A Vintage Bed and Breakfast Inn ” A s one who has never been able to grow anything but invasive weeds, I am immediately enthralled with the plethora of colorful flowers framing this charming New England B&B. When I learn the inn’s lovely perennial gardens are award-winning ones, I am not surprised. They resonate the same TLC found throughout this inviting and affable inn.Built as a cottage in 1842, the property was converted into a B&B in 1993; it was purchased by the current owners, Jessica and Bruce Zarenko, in 2003. The Zarenkos also serve as resident innkeepers. However, it is hard to believe they have only been in the industry for such a short time based upon the level of expertise reflected in all aspects of their impressive innkeeping and varied skills. Breakfast at The Cabernet Inn, prepared by Chef Jessica and served by Bruce, is served at individual tables after guests make their selections from an extensive menu replete with tempting offerings—ones that never disappoint! Homemade cookies and beverages are available in the afternoons and may be enjoyed in one of the inn’s inviting, tastefully-appointed common rooms. |
When the time comes to depart, I once again walk down the walkway flanked with flowers I wish I could transport home with me. I can’t take the flowers home with me, but warm memories of the abounding hospitality received at this inn will remain with for a long time to come—it is truly a hallmark quality of Cabernet Inn.
