BORDELON PLACE

     Demurely peeking from behind a protective Magnolia, the colonnaded 19th century home awaits her guests like a gracious Southern lady. The bright yellow exterior seems to mirror the summer sun, and the verandah beckons me to sit for a spell and reminisce about yesteryear.
     Kathy and Ken Heyl, owners and innkeepers of Bordelon Place, opened their B&B in February 2006 following an extensive renovation. The results of their efforts are magnificent. Formerly the homeplace of a favorite aunt and uncle of Kathy’s, she now wants to ensure that her guests experience the same special sense-of-place that she fondly recalls experiencing during her many visits as a child.
     Tasteful décor, excellent design, and attention-to-detail combine to make Bordelon Place Mobile’s premier bed and breakfast inn. It is conveniently located to well-known sites of interest, including beautiful Bellingrath Gardens, and excellent dining is nearby.

     A delicious and attractively  presented breakfast is prepared each morning by Miss Eloise, the on-site chef. Freshly baked goodies are prepared by her on a daily basis and always available to guests.
     Bordelon Place personifies Southern hospitality at its best!

  It is springtime in The South, and I am driving through the Daniel Boone National Forest towards my next B&B destination. The road winds through scenic woodlands dotted with Redbud trees bursting with lilac-colored blooms. I wonder if I should forget going to the scheduled inn and just  camp out amidst these gorgeous trees.  As soon as I spot the Doolin House, enhanced by double porches and flowering baskets, I forget about the magical forest I wound through earlier. Even from afar, I sense a welcoming aura and know I  am going to like this newly built inn.
     Allison and Charles Sobieck, the young and talented proprietors/resident innkeepers of Doolin House Gourmet B&B, are distinguished chefs with culinary degrees. The scrumptious breakfast they serve their guests each morning reflects the Sobieck’s amazing culinary skills.

     Each bedroom is tastefully decorated and named in honor of a famous Kentucky Derby race horse. My favorite bed chamber is Spectacular Bid with its magnificent four poster mahogany bed and a working fireplace. With its warm hospitality, distinctive rooms, and outstanding cuisine, Doolan House promises its  guests a pleasant and memorable experience.
